John Henry Hensley 1964 Fairlane 500 Thunder Bolt Clone
· This car is a Ford Thunder Bolt Clone, based off a 1964 Ford Fairlane 500. Owners James Hensley, and his nephew John Hensley have been meticulously building this car over the past 6 years. The car was purchased around 2004 with the intent of making a Thunder Bolt clone. What started off as a stock '64 Fairlane 500 has turned into a true street machine. The motor is a 428 Cobra Jet built by Bill Coon. Sitting behind the 500 HP motor is a Ford C6, with a 3800 Stall Converter. Stock A-Arm designed suspension up front with disc brakes from a 1970 Mercury Cougar, and a fully tubbed, ladder bar rear suspension with coil over's, wilwood brakes and a narrowed Ford 9" with a 3.90:1 gear out back. The color of the car is Wimbledon White, with the appropriate Thunder Bolt decals to finish. The interior has 03/04 SVT Cobra seats, full custom Auto Meter gauges, custom trans tunnel cover, and an 8-point roll cage. Wheels and tires are Weld Pro Star and Mickey Thompson's. The car has fiberglass bumpers and a fiberglass hood, just like the real Thunder Bolt. The motto of this car when it was originally built in the 60's was "Race on Sunday, sell on Monday". Now while this car is neither racing, or having any intent to be sold, it does draw attention at the Car Shows.
