Neil Zakar's 1964 Fairlane S.C.
· My, 1964 Fairlane Sports Coupe started life as a 289 2V Automatic painted Raven Black with Black Cloth interior. My restoration up graded the suspension with the big 1" sway bar all new bushings and tie rod ends, a Ford 9" Rear end with 3/50 gears. The rear end came out of a 60 T-bird that has the same plate to plate dimension as the Fairlane. I found a 289 HiPo block and built a 1966 Shelby motor with a solid lifter cam and cast iron headers of that year. The interior has Dearborn Door Panels and Carpet kit with the buckets from Pro Kar sold by Summit and Jegs. I put the battery in the trunk and added air shocks to fit my 235/55/17 Chrome Mustang Wheels and Pirelli Tires on the rear. The Fronts are 215/60/15 with Pirelli tires, the wheels are from Vision Chrome with the centers cut to fit the "Ford Racing" Wheel Centers. To finish off my "Lightning Bolt" clone I added a Crites Tier Drop Hood and Removed the inner headlights substituting screen mesh. A Grant GT steering wheel and Hurst 4speed shifter finish off the interior. Neil Zakar, California
