Tom Baughman's 67 Ranchero
This has been a 12 year restoration and UPGrade project.
It was originally 6 cylinder. I rebuilt and installed another 200 cu. in. and had it painted while living in Indiana. The paint job was not the best. After moving to Florida I was offered a free 302 if I installed a rebuilt 351 in his Ranchero. This I did. I purchased the "C" stripe over 10 years ago. Had it installed professionally and all they had to do was make a different piece for the lower front fender. I mounted the "289" where the 1968 light would have been.
I installed an original power steering assist setup and it started to leak and strange sounds started coming from the gear box. I recently completed the installation of a POWER GEAR box which works great and since the hoses are not required to move I expect NO Leaks. I have a complete digital photo description of the installation if you are interested. I purchased the kit from ABS Power Brake and it was intended for a Mustang. A few modifications were necessary.
During this installation I also installed a 1968 Galaxie tilt column and a 1967 Galaxie steering wheel which matches the Fairlane, but has the correct hub size for the column.
My painter spent a lot of time on prepping and painting the wheel wheels and inside the bed so I made a wood bed liner that folds for storage and protects the sheet metal when installed.
